Investigations Certificate Programs

The University of New Haven offers three graduate Investigations Certificate programs. These certificate programs allow you to explore and gain a better understanding of different facets of Investigations without committing to a full master’s degree. If you choose to complete a master’s, they can also offer an additional focus on top of your degree.

Each certificate requires 12 credit hours or 4 classes. If you are a current master’s degree student, you may apply one of your courses towards the 12 credit requirement.

Certificate in Cybercrime Investigations: 12 Credit Hours (4 classes)

Required Courses (6 credits)

  • INVS 6611 Contemporary Topics in Cybercrime Investigations
  • CJST 6600 Computer Crime: Legal Issues and Investigative Procedures

Plus two electives (6 credits)

Certificate in Digital Forensics Investigations: 12 Credit Hours (4 classes)

Required Courses (6 credits)

  • CJST 6600 Computer Crime: Legal Issues and Investigative Procedures
  • NSPS/CJST 6627 Internet Investigations & Audit-Based Computer Forensics

Plus two electives (6 credits)

Certificate Financial Crime Investigation: 12 Credit Hours (4 classes)

Required Course (3 credits)

  • LSTD 6620 Regulation & Occupational Fraud (3 credits)

Plus three electives (9 credits) – two from INVS and one from any area

Example groupings:

Law enforcement focus: CJST 6630 Financial Crimes Investigation, and electives in related topics based on student interest (AML, Security, Transnational & Organized crime, Tax & IRS, Dark Web investigations, etc.)

Civil Litigation: INVS 6608 Topics in Civil Litigation, CJST 6630 Financial Crimes Investigations, INVS 6602 Contemporary Fraud Schemes

Financial Institution: INVS 6603 Topics in Money Laundering, INVS 6613 BSA & Compliance

Compliance: INVS 6606 Topics in Security & Loss Prevention, INVS 6613 BSA & Compliance

Corporate Investigations: INVS 6604 Topics in Corporate Investigations, INVS 6606 Topics in Security & Loss Prevention

Healthcare Fraud: INVS 6610 Transnational & Organized Crime (or INVS 6604 Topics in Corporate Investigations), INVS 6612 Topics in Insurance Investigations, HCAD 6629 Healthcare Reimbursements

The Investigations Certificate programs are pending final approval by the CT-OHE and will not qualify for financial aid until that is awarded.
